Spot Reducing: It's More Than Just A Myth

Those of us who are interested in knowing the foods that burn belly fat are more than likely interested in whether it is possible to "spot reduce" stubborn fat from specific areas of the body.  Expert Kate Eason tells us that it's not only a myth but giving in to the concept that it is possible to spot reduce could be the worst thing you can do.  Eason says: "If you are trying to "spot reduce" by doing repeated exercises on the "troubled"area, you may actually cause hypertrophy. Hypertrophy occurs when an area of the body is being overtrained with high resistance training. This type of training isn't burning the fat that's lying on top of the muscle. In fact, the muscle will grow and push the fat out even more. This can be even more discouraging and lead to tossing in the towel. Don't fall into this trap. I am not saying don't do squats or crunches; just make sure you are coupling your exercise efforts with a lower calorie diet.
